Drivers across Pakistan will see changes at the pump starting August 1st, 2025. The federal government just announced new petrol prices and diesel rates for the next two weeks. This is good news for petrol users but means higher costs for those relying on diesel.

According to the official Finance Division notice released July 31st, petrol prices have been cut significantly. The price drops by Rs. 7.54 per litre. This lowers petrol from Rs. 272.15 to a new price of Rs. 264.61 per litre. However, high-speed diesel (HSD – the fuel commonly used in trucks, buses, and heavy machinery) sees a price hike. The diesel rates increase by Rs. 1.48 per litre. Diesel now costs Rs. 285.83 per litre, up from Rs. 284.35.

These changes flip the trend from the previous fortnight. Just two weeks ago, the government had increased petrol prices by Rs. 5.36 per litre (reaching Rs. 272.15) and raised diesel rates by a much larger Rs. 11.37 per litre (taking it to Rs. 284.35).
